The RV Marie Tharp: Ocean Research Project’s steel polar expedition schooner.

RV Marie Tharp is a 72’ Bruce Roberts Voyager 650 and will be used to conduct climate change research in uncharted polar regions under sail. With RV Marie Tharp, the team at Ocean Research Project will collect seafloor mapping data and contribute to studying global warming’s impact on complex polar regions.

Currently, Marie is in refit just South of Annapolis, Maryland. The vessel will be commissioned and launched in the Summer of 2021 for a 10-year mapping campaign in some of the most complex uncharted polar and sub-polar coastal locations in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. Ocean Research Projects needs skilled volunteers, sponsors, and donations to ensure RV Marie Tharp is expedition-ready.
